Porsche Taycan deposit in process

I registered to put a deposit on a Porsche Taycan on the Porsche USA site. Note I was also in the first 60k people to put a deposit on a Tesla Model 3, but 18 months into waiting I cancelled. The Model 3 is interesting but concerns re. quality, weird interior, and availability ultimately turned me off and I got a refund on my deposit.

The Taycan looks somewhat like my Cayman in styling, it’s a sexy machine. Although I know it’ll be a while before I can actually order the car I have no doubt about the quality, fit & finish, and more importantly the driving characteristics. Also, I’m confident they’ll be able to crank out quite a few without having to resort to tents :)

How much of a deposit are they requiring for one of these? Not that I can afford it or anything. Just curious.

Heard from my local dealer:

“ Thank you for contacting Porsche Bellevue concerning our exciting arrival, the 2020 Porsche Taycan. I have placed you on our waitlist for the order, but will hold off on taking the $2500 deposit Porsche will require until another date. We want you to keep your money working for you. When we have our allocation from the factory, I will reach back out to collect the deposit and finalize your configuration.

In the meantime, I will be updating you on production-related information I receive from the factory. “

Apparently, Porsche doesn’t need to crowd -fund thei r next vehicle :)

$2500 when you configure/order the car. I i magine that will be in about 18 months or so.. to have your name on the waiti ng list costs noth ing

There are a lot of Teslas in Marin/SF, but there are a ton of Porsche 911, SUVs as well... I suspect these people would choose a Parshhh over a Tesla given a good option.
